UK9 was born several years ago, when a group of sled dog enthusiasts started meeting up for training and racing, we just weren’t a club on paper at that point. We would help each other at events, with training issues and there was always a cup of something strong and a kind word at the end of the day. It was the camaraderie that made racing so much more enjoyable and as our gang grew in numbers so eventually did the need to form a club.

Whilst the initial camaraderie is still very much a feature, we now have a training base, a strong junior contingent and a healthy group of enthusiasts from large teams to mono sports. It seemed the next step to source and offer insurance for our members, which now covers racing abroad for those seeking an International experience.

Club nights were introduced last season and proved a hit. Members can run the trails with the knowledge that support and help is close at hand and most nights ended with a few drinks around the now infamous UK9 campfire. Club nights are open to all members, but places must be pre booked, However we welcome all members and some of our more experienced members are on hand for help and guidance.

The club is also recognised by BSSF and we are very determined to be at the forefront of building and developing the growing scene of sleddog sports. We are not afraid to tackle Governing Body issues we feel may impact our members and support racing from the highest level to beginners in both Nordic and Open. We think we have a good grass roots programme to other members who race for Team GB.

UK9 is a progressive club, who place dog welfare and fair play for all at the centre of their ethos. If you enjoy running dogs or are just starting out we can offer something for everyone…..step this way!
